1. Product Overview
The robotic dexterous hand has a wide range of applications across various fields, including industry, healthcare, service robotics, agriculture, and space exploration. Currently, the tactile perception of robotic hands mainly relies on the integration of multiple types of sensors within the hand system to simulate the tactile sensing ability of human fingers. Among these, pressure tactile sensing is used to detect the pressure distribution when the fingers contact an object, enabling the robot to determine the object’s shape and hardness.
The FPT100 Pressure Tactile Detection Solution is a system based on flexible pressure sensors, consisting of three main components:
The flexible pressure sensors can be attached to the robot fingers. A layer of soft silicone or rubber pad can be applied on top of the sensor to protect the thin-film sensing layer. The sensor signals are transmitted through an FPC cable to the acquisition module, which converts the sensor’s resistance variation caused by applied pressure into pressure data.
The acquisition module outputs the data via serial communication to a PC, where the dedicated pressure UI software visually displays the pressure distribution across the finger contact area in real time.
